The Children’s Museum of South Dakota made “this year’s ‘it’ list honoring the 25 best new places,” according to the January/February issue of Midwest Living Magazine, which advises travelers to “leave time in your road trip itineraries for this phenomenal attraction.”

The museum was the only South Dakota attraction included in the list that contained other points of interest in cities such as Chicago, Omaha, Kansas City, Grand Rapids, and Minneapolis.

Suzanne Hegg, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of South Dakota, said, “Knowing that our small-town museum competes favorably with the best urban venues is very exciting! We have believed for some time, based on guest feedback and our visits to other museums, that the Children’s Museum of South Dakota is quite extraordinary. Midwest Living’s designation as one of the top places to play in the twelve state region verifies that our museum truly is a wonderful place to play and learn. Competing well with the ‘big boys’ is great fun!”

The museum, which has entertained guests from every state in the United States, is South Dakota’s only broad-based, cross-discipline children’s museum and consistently draws new visitors to the city of Brookings and to the state.

Jim Hagen, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism, applauds the museum on behalf of the state’s tourism industry. “We are very pleased to have the Children’s Museum of South Dakota as a vital part of our tourism industry. It is a true must-see world-class family destination that promotes learning in a playful and engaging way.”

The Midwest Living magazine, the leading lifestyle media brand of the Midwest, has a circulation of almost one million readers throughout the twelve states comprising the Midwest heartland. The Jan/Feb issue is currently for sale.
