A Free Day of Play for Kidoodle's 3rd Birthday

Date: Sep 04, 2013

Sunday, September 15th from 12noon - 5 pm

The Children’s Museum of South Dakota is nearing its third birthday and will make the celebration extra special this year with a barnyard theme birthday bash and by opening its exhibits for a free day of play. On Sunday, September 15th, from 12 noon to 5 pm, visitors are invited to join in the celebration with free admission and activities like petting farm animals, milking a real dairy cow, climbing on tractors, games, face painting, and much more! Kiddos are encouraged to come dressed in the theme and will also receive a free bandana while supplies last.

Suzanne Hegg, CEO for the Children’s Museum of South Dakota states that, “One of our goals when we designed the museum was to celebrate a ‘Sense of Place.’ In the museum, we celebrate our history, our landscape, and the cultures of South Dakota. We continue that celebration with the theme of our birthday party this year. It’s a Barnyard Birthday Bash celebrating our farming heritage.”

The museum first opened its doors to guests on September 12th, 2010 and has increased tourism to the city of Brookings by welcoming more than three hundred thousand guests from every state in the United States plus countries worldwide. The Children’s Museum of South Dakota sparks imagination and learning for all children and their grown-ups through play, creativity and discovery. CMSD, the state’s only children’s museum, has been featured in Midwest Living magazine and the Chicago Tribune newspaper as a “must see destination” in addition to winning several national awards. The museum consistently draws guests from a three hour drive radius and abundant field trips --- some from more than six hours away.

Hegg invites everyone to help celebrate Kidoodle’s Third Birthday. Come join the FUN!
