Open Position: Art Educator
Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Executive Director

As Art Educator
• Plan, prepare and implement all elementary age art classes and workshops based on Reggio principles.
• Plan, prepare and implement all family art workshops based on Reggio principles.
• Plan first floor Art Studio exhibit activities for all museum visitors.
• Inventory programming supplies and place purchase orders as necessary.
• Interact with families and assist them in the Art Studio exhibit as well as throughout the museum.
• Document and display children’s work to communicate the value of play and exploration with museum visitors. Includes: photographs, class work displays, community projects and museum displays.
• Work with Director of Guest Services to maintain and secure core volunteers to assist in all art offerings.
• Maintain records of class participation, revenue and other statistics for use in board presentations.
• Organize, plan and assist in the visitation of all Artist in Residencies.
• Make contacts with registered families regarding classes and workshops.
• Other duties as needed.
As Educator
• Work collaboratively with community groups for events and museum workshops.
• Plan, prep, implement and oversee museum events throughout the year.
• Assist in planning, preparation and implementation of non-art workshops for children ages 2-12.
• Book, greet and facilitate field trips throughout the year.
• Plan and implement intentional “pop-up play” activities throughout the museum.
• Develop cross departmental strategic plans as well as specific strategic plans for Education and Programming to meet the standards, values and vision of the Children’s Museum.
• Book and plan birthday party activities and train Party Pals on implementation.
• Give museum and programming tours to various adult groups, focusing on their visit purpose. (Students, college groups, daycares, teachers, etc.)
• Other duties as needed.
